When Cowboy arrived at Robin's Nest Rescue, euthanasia had already been scheduled after an injury ended his working life as a lesson horse. At nearly the same time, Debbie — a veteran, advocate, athlete, and lifelong caregiver to others — arrived at the sanctuary carrying exhaustion of a different kind.

Together, they found something neither expected: peace.

What began as tentative interaction became deep trust through quiet routines, shared presence, and the calming rhythm of sanctuary life. Today, Debbie helps lead Side by Side Farm Tours and volunteers at nearly every ranch event, while Cowboy continues to offer comfort, connection, and gentle companionship to all who meet him.

Their story reflects the heart of Robin's Nest Rescue: creating opportunities for healing, wellness, and hope through the extraordinary power of the animal–human bond.
