What to Expect

1

Meet the Animals

Spend time with 25+ rescued animals across eight species — from potbelly pigs and Quarter Horses to alpacas, tortoises, and sheep — and hear each one's story.

2

Feed the Critters

Visits land at morning or evening feeding time, so you'll roll up your sleeves and help serve breakfast or dinner to the herd.

3

Lend a Hand

Time and willingness permitting, pitch in mucking enclosures and laying down fresh hay — often the kids' favorite part of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might want to know before your Farm Tour.

  • How long does the Farm Tour last?
Farm Tours typically last approximately one hour, though timing may vary slightly depending on the animals, group size, and how many extra snuggles happen along the way.
  • What happens during the Farm Tour?
Each visit offers a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse into sanctuary life. Depending on timing and the animals' needs that day, your experience will likely include: • Meeting our rescued sanctuary animals • Hearing their rescue stories • Guided feeding opportunities • Learning about daily care and life on the ranch • Light, age-appropriate hands-on participation • Plenty of memorable photo moments No two visits are exactly alike—which is part of the magic.
  • When are feeding times?
Our main feeding times are typically around 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM, which can make for especially fun and interactive visits. As with all things animal-related, schedules may occasionally shift based on weather, health needs, or ranch operations.
  • Is the Farm Tour appropriate for children?
Absolutely! Farm Tours are family-friendly and can be a wonderful experience for children. For everyone's safety: • All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian • Children ages 0–3 are welcome but must remain in a stroller, carrier, backpack, or in-hand while on the ranch
  • What should I wear?
This is a real working ranch, so comfort and practicality are key. We recommend: • Closed-toe shoes (required) • Comfortable outdoor clothing • Layers (weather can shift quickly) • Sun protection (hat/sunscreen) You may encounter dust, hay, mud, animal kisses, and a little adventure.
  • Can we pet or feed the animals?
Our tours include safe, guided opportunities for interaction and feeding. However, for the safety of both guests and animals: • Please do not feed or interact with animals unless directed by your host • Do not enter animal enclosures without supervision Our animals' wellbeing always comes first.
  • Can I bring my dog or other pet?
To protect the health and safety of our sanctuary residents, outside animals are not permitted. Service animals are always welcome; please let us know in advance if you'll be bringing one so we can plan accordingly.
  • Is smoking allowed?
No. Robin's Nest is a strictly no-smoking property.
  • Is the ranch accessible?
Robin's Nest is a working ranch with uneven terrain, dirt pathways, and active animal areas, so accessibility may vary. Please contact us in advance so we can discuss accommodations and determine the best fit.
  • Are there any ranch rules we should know?
Yes—helping us protect the animals, property, and peaceful environment is important. Please: • Respect all host instructions • Stay out of private residences and fenced residential areas • Pick up after yourselves • Be respectful of neighbors and the peaceful ranch setting
  • Is this the same as a Side by Side Healing Experience?
Not quite—but they share the same heart. Both Farm Tours and Side by Side Healing Experiences are part of Robin's Nest Rescue's nonprofit programming, rooted in the healing power of connection between humans, rescued animals, and nature. Farm Tours are designed as welcoming experiences for the general public—fun, educational, hands-on, and naturally therapeutic. Side by Side experiences offer a deeper, more intentional therapeutic focus through personalized, guided animal-assisted healing experiences. Farm Tour = joyful community healing + education Side by Side = deeper therapeutic connection + restoration Both directly support our nonprofit mission.
  • Where does my booking fee go?
100% of your Farm Tour fee directly supports Robin's Nest Rescue's nonprofit mission—helping provide lifelong sanctuary, food, veterinary care, enrichment, and healing-centered programming for both animals and people.
