Meet the Animals
At Robin's Nest Rescue, every animal has a story — and every story matters.
Our Therapists Eat Hay
Our growing family includes pigs rescued from extreme hoarding situations, horses saved from neglect or uncertainty, alpacas who traveled long roads to safety, and a cast of dogs, sheep, tortoises, and ranch cats who now call this sanctuary home.
This is their forever home — a place where they are no longer defined by where they came from, but by who they are becoming.
A Different Kind of Therapy
Our animals are not "trained therapists" in the traditional sense. They are trusted companions.
Through safety, consistency, and compassionate care, they have learned to engage with people in calm, authentic ways. Interactions are always guided and supervised, but never forced.
And that is where something remarkable happens.
Without judgment. Without expectation. Without words.
The presence of an animal can soften fear, lower defenses, and open the door to connection in ways traditional approaches often cannot. Guests often leave calmer, lighter, and more connected than when they arrived.
Why It Matters
In a world that often feels rushed and disconnected, these animals offer something rare:
Slowness. Honesty. Acceptance.
They do not ask for explanations or require a backstory. They simply meet people where they are.
And here, in this quiet sanctuary, they create space for healing — side by side.
The Three Chimigos
The heart of Robin's Nest traces back to three Chihuahuas — Lily, Alberto, and Julio. Their legendary bond inspired songs, stories, a children's book series, and the founding of Robin's Nest Rescue.
The Piggies
Our piggies are among the original Robin's Nest residents and remain some of the most beloved. Rescued from hardship and extreme neglect, they now spend their days soaking up belly rubs, enjoying treats, and reminding guests that intelligence, emotion, and personality come in every shape and size.
The Awesome Alpacas
Gentle, curious, and endlessly expressive, the alpacas of Robin's Nest have become some of our most beloved ambassadors. Some arrived after long journeys and difficult transitions. Others came through major rehoming efforts like the Quiddish Mission. Together, they remind us daily of the power of calm presence, connection, and trust.
The Sulcata Tortoises
Marco and Polo remind us that sanctuary work is often about long-term commitment. These gentle brothers arrived after years of inadequate care and now spend their days slowly exploring, basking in warmth, and teaching guests about patience, resilience, and responsible guardianship.
The Equines
From towering Quarter Horses to tiny minis with giant personalities, the equines of Robin's Nest bring strength, gentleness, and curiosity to sanctuary life. Whether quietly connecting with guests or racing through The Acres, each has a story rooted in resilience and second chances.
The Little Lambs
Our 'lambies' are known as hair sheep; specifically they are a Dorpor-Katahdin mix. Dolly and Reba may help manage the grass at Robin's Nest, but they also help guests discover gentleness, curiosity, and connection. Named after country music legends, these 'Lambies' bring personality, humor, and plenty of vocal opinions to the ranch.
The Ranch Dogs
The dogs of Robin's Nest may be very different from one another, but together they form an extraordinary little pack. From energetic herders to tiny cuddle companions, they each bring comfort, joy, and connection to sanctuary life.
Cat Tales
Our ranch cats may technically be 'barn cats,' but around here they are family. Smokey and Bandito patrol the property, greet guests, supervise golf cart rides, and remind us daily that even the most independent creatures still seek connection and belonging.
In Memoriam
Honoring those who are no longer with us but whose spirits live on in everything we do.
